Golden Flower Chinese Herbs offers an exceptional line of Chinese herbal formulas designed by clinicians and manufactured with select Chinese herbs. John Scott, DOM and Lorena Monda, DOM founded the company in 1990. John has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine since 1982, and Lorena since 1984. John and Lorena created Golden Flower Chinese Herbs to meet a rising need for high quality, reasonably priced formulas— without the impurities, adulterants, or questionable ingredients found in some prepared formulas. The first Golden Flower formula came about after we sent a popular patent formula to a lab for testing. The test results indicated that the formula was adulterated with a powerful western drug not indicated on the label. As practitioners we became concerned that we could not be accountable for the herbs we prescribed to our patients if we did not know what was in them.
We are committed to providing clinicians with products of uncompromising quality and purity. A complete explanation of our product formulation and manufacturing process follows this introduction.
Golden Flower formulas use the highest quality raw materials. They are selected for freshness and verified to insure that the correct genus, species, and part of the plant are used. We ensure that your patients are getting safe, correct, and effective herb formulas by employing advanced techniques in herb selection, identification, and processing. All of our formulas are tested for pesticide residues, microbial activity and heavy metals. Our products exceed current international GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.
The precise formulation percentages are given so that clinicians can know exactly what they are prescribing to their patients.
We consciously offer affordably priced, high quality, herbal products to make Chinese herbal medicine available to as many patients as possible.
PATIENT COMPLIANCE & EASE OF USE
Our extra-concentrated formulations have been formulated for ease of use. We seek to improve patient compliance by offering products that are easy to take.
ENHANCED CLINICAL APPLICABILITY
As diseases evolve, so must our strategies to treat them. Many of our products are traditional, classical Chinese prescriptions. Other formulas are modifications of traditional formulas, adapted to better address the modern western patient. Some are new formulas based on traditional strategies for modern complaints. All new formulations go through a period of clinical testing in prototype form before they are made available.
RESOURCES & EDUCATION
We seek to expand the use of Chinese herbs by providing clear and useful information to practitioners. We offer real-time professional consultations by licensed Doctors of Oriental Medicine by phone during our regular business hours. Additionally, we offer professional education workshops and seminars to benefit clinicians of varying skill levels and backgrounds. We have been fortunate to have a number of very experienced and talented professionals teach and write for our community of customers and friends. We thank these great practitioners for sharing their knowledge and experience with us.
ADVOCACY & COMMUNITY SUPPORT
We, at Golden Flower Chinese Herbs, work to raise public awareness of the benefits of Oriental medicine. By offering superior products and the resources to effectively use them, we hope to aid you in successfully supporting your patients’ health and well-being.
Additionally, we support future practitioners of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AOM) by providing student scholarships to numerous schools of Oriental Medicine. We are also involved in many activities that support the growth of our profession. Our founder, John Scott, DOM has been active in the efforts by the American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAOM) and the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) to bring a more practical and positive outcome in the development of regulations that affect the access to Chinese herbs. Our company has been supportive to AOM professional associations and schools across the US. Because Golden Flower Chinese Herbs was founded by practitioners, we feel a strong connection to the profession of AOM, and to our patients.
We have also made donations for disaster relief around the world through Acupuncturists Without Borders and given support to various causes in need.
Some of our formulas have been developed in response to practitioner needs and feedback. We welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions. We thank our practitioners for sharing their insightful and interesting case studies with us.
GOLDEN FLOWER CHINESE HERBS' GREEN STATEMENT
Packed with Care
Here at Golden Flower Chinese Herbs our number one priority is customer satisfaction and we'd like you to know that taking care of our customers means taking care of our planet. Here are just a few tidbits about the materials we use to get your orders to you:
Corrugated Cardboard Boxes made of recycled content and post-consumer material are used to ship all customer orders.
*FYI*-The paper recovery rate remains strong, exceeding 60% each year since 2009. In 2012 the second-highest recovery rate for paper was realized at 65.1%. The annual achievements being made in paper recovery continue to be above the trend line for American Forest & Paper Association to achieve its goal of exceeding 70% paper recovery for recycling by 2020.
Renature Packing Puffs are used in packing the majority of orders. They are made from annually renewable potato and wheat starch. Not only is Renature environmentally friendly, it is also recyclable, compostable without residues, and water-soluble so as not to pollute groundwater.
Paper Shreds are one of the other materials that may be utilized in preparing your shipment. Paper used within the offices of Golden Flower Chinese Herbs is put through our shredder and used as packing material. Please consider recycling, since many recycling centers now accept shredded office paper. Paper shreds can be reused to send a package of your own or they can even be used as mulch in flower beds and around trees.
We Recycle: We recycle all cans, bottles, and paper. We recycle all of the corrugated cardboard that we receive. All of the products that arrive here to be shipped to you arrive in corrugated cardboard containers. Those that cannot be reused are taken to the recycling center. We recycle our toner cartridges for all the printers within our offices. As you may guess, we have a number of printers, and printer cartridges do add up! We recycle electronic equipment. The city of Albuquerque has facilities that recycle electronic waste.
Wind and Solar Electricity: We also pay a bit more for electrical power by purchasing "blocks" of electricity from our local power company's Sky Blue program. Under the Sky Blue program, the ratio of electricity generation will be about 85% wind and 15% solar energy and is sourced locally from the New Mexico Wind Energy Center near Fort Sumner, NM.
Monitoring Our Energy Consumption: Our local power company has an electrical audit program. They analyzed our power consumption. We then replaced light fixtures and installed motion detectors for our lights in various places and took other steps to reduce our power consumption. A few years ago, we put 2 inches of foam on our roof to better insulate it. This has made our office more comfortable and has measurably reduced our energy consumption. We have also improved the insulation in our warehouse to reduce our energy usage.
When possible, we order supplies from local companies. This reduces fuel consumption and pollution. So, the next time you receive an order from Golden Flower Chinese Herbs, know that it was packed with care for you as well as care for our environment.
From our Manufacturer: As a team, KPC, Biotanico, and Kaiser Pharmaceutical are committed to preserving the environment and to integrating green concepts throughout the supply chain. From raw materials to finished products, KPC practices responsible recycling and reduces material waste to help protect resources for future generations. KPC's philosophy "Preserving Nature's Way" is refleted in the following ways:
Eco-Friendly Sourcing: Kaiser Pharmaceutical selects only the finest raw materials from Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) farms. In using materials sourced from GAP farmers, Kaiser Pharmaceutical makes sure the herbal species are protected, harvestable, and not endangered. This allows for sustainablilty and the continued use of natural resources.
Green Building Certification: Biotanico received the green building certificate in 2009. This certification ensures that the building is energy-saving, eco-friendly, and low in emissions. A green building is also a comfortable, healthy, and pleasant environment for both the customers and the employees.
CITIES Certification: KPC ensures that their use of animal or plant specimens does not threaten the survival of any species. KPC obtains threatened plant or animal species only from cultivated sources. KPC's Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITIES) certifications guarantee that no further harm is done to any species that is already struggling to survive.
